Production Technician

Job Opportunity
In this hands-on role, you will play a key part in the careful assembly and
shipping of our precision temperature metrology instrumentation products, ensuring
that every item that leaves our facility meets the high standard our customers rely on.
As demand for our products continues to grow, we are looking to welcome a Production Technician
to join our production team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented
individual who takes pride in high quality work and wants to grow their skills within
a technically focused, collaborative environment.
Aspects of the Production Technician role:
- Assembly of both mechanical housings and electronic components
- Soldering
- Communicating and collaborating with colleagues throughout the production timeline
- Maintaining accurate production records and test results
- Packing up equipment for distribution
- Using hand tools and equipment to aid production processes
Qualities of a Production Technician:
- Able to work precisely with a good attention to detail
- Experience in soldering, or interest in learning
- Computer literacy: including writing emails and basic Excel knowledge
- Good communication skills with colleagues and suppliers
- Happy with repetitive work while maintaining care and precision
A successful Production Technician will also have opportunities to develop skills
beyond the core requirements of the role, such as using mechanical design software,
learning electronics principles, repairing PCBs, and reading schematics.
The Company
Metrosol was founded in 2004 and is now recognised as the supplier
of the most accurate instrumentation for temperature metrology and precision
measurement. With instruments capable of measuring down to 30 ppb (0.000003%),
equivalent to ±7.5 μK, Metrosol’s achievements were recognised in 2017 when it
received a Queen’s award for Enterprise in the Innovation category. In 2019,
its work on the development of the world’s first practical Johnson noise thermometer
was recognised when the former technical lead received the Callendar medal from the
Institute of Measurement and Control.
The company is a micro business with only 6 staff currently on the payroll.
However, it collaborates closely with subcontractors and other organisations such
as the National Physical Laboratory, so that its influence and reach is extensive.
Metrosol is owned by Isothermal Technology Limited, the leading manufacturer of
temperature metrology equipment, which is Metrosol’s exclusive route to market.
Job Details
Location: Paulerspury, Northamptonshire NN12 6LQ
Salary: competitive £27-30k per annum (depending on experience)
