250/500 Thermometry Bridge
The design brief for the microK 250/500 products
was simple; to design a precision thermometer for secondary
standards applications that is the best in its class. It
had to offer the best performance and have the most comprehensive
range of features. In delivering this design challenge,
Metrosol worked with NPL (the National Physics Laboratory)
to develop a completely new type of ADC in order to achieve
linearity and noise performance that was previously unachievable
without the use of the more complex AC bridge technology.
We also introduced the radical substitution topology to
the design of the microK to achieve a truly drift-less design
as well as solid state signal switching in place of the
far less reliable mechanical relays to improve reliability.
Another innovation for this market was to use a touch screen
user interface based on the Windows CE operating system
making the microK the easiest instrument of its type to
use.
